Open interest

Open interest is the total size of positions still open in a contract, usually quoted in US dollars. It shows how much capital is committed to a market, not how much traded.

Low open interest often goes with thin order books, wider spreads and funding that swings more. A very wide funding spread on a market with little open interest may be impossible to trade in any size, which is why AlgoBee's weekly report leaves out venues with less than $1 million open interest.
